The European Historic Thermal Towns Association participated in the last edition of TERMATALIA, the International Exhibition of Thermal, Health and Wellness Tourism that is held in Ourense, EHTTA founder member, every two years. Strongly linked to Latin America, Termatalia gathers for a 3-days expo thermalism professionals from several countries around the world. For this edition, which took place between September 20-23, over 30 countries were present at theevent, with more than 200 exhibitors and 40 international tour operators. EHTTA attended with a promotional stand, and was represented by its president, Giuseppe Bellandi, Mayor of Montecatini Terme.


Bellandi gave one of the opening conferences of the Thermal Towns Meetings, introducing EHTTA’s latest projects and new members. He also took part of the closing ceremony of the 2nd International Symposium on Thermalism and Quality of Life, the scientific event organized by the University of Vigo - Water Campus celebrated parallel to Termatalia. During the session Bellandi strengthened the importance of fostering international research cooperation related to thermalism in order to face the challenges of the industry: “Thermal towns may have many different local realities, but we all share the same problems, specially when dealing with such a sensitive resource as mineral water.” Several EHTTA members attended this event as well, such as representatives from Daruvar (Croatia), Sao Pedro do Sul, Galicia Region or the Eurocity Chaves-Verín, which was awarded at the International Mineral Water Competition. The European Spas Association - ESPA - was also one of the exhibitors.

HUB Tourism - Therms & Wellness in Milan, Italy

The same week, EHTTA was also present at the first edition of the event "Hub Tourism - Therms and Wellness" that took place at the Palazzo delle Stelline, in Milan.The international network was one of the main partners of this professional meeting, focused on the study and the exchange of best practices between European spa destinations, in order to discuss and compare on terminologies, methodologies , marketing strategies and products offered.

The event, which included workshops, conferences, specialized media and a trade fair, was attended by EHTTA Executive Secretary, Raffaella Caria, who took part in the opening ceremony and also participated on a dedicated roundtable with the conference "The European Historic Thermal Towns: an example of international cooperation for promoting Thermal Towns as modern tourist destinations".
